I am feeling pretty good today, now that I have finally taken charge of my weight and am doing something about it. I did really well with not snacking today, but I know that I snack most at work, so we'll see what Monday brings.
Eating healthier, to me, means moderation, which is why you see Coke mentioned so often.
I. Love. Coke.
There's no getting around it. I have tried to stop drinking it in the past and I have, but I end up substituting it with sugary/salty snacks which end up being even worse for me. Therefore, Coke will always appear as a part of my diet.
In order for me to be healthier, there are a few things I need to work on:
1. Work out regularly
This has been difficult with my knee surgery, but I need to stop making excuses and do what I can. Today's workout (see below) worked out great with minimal discomfort and
even incorporated some of the exercises I do in physical therapy! I'll be working out for
at least 30 minutes a day on days I do not have therapy!
2. Snack less
Snacking is my weakness. I don't like to sit down and eat a meal, I'd rather snack all day. This is problematic because it makes it almost impossible to be conscious of what I'm eating and how much of it I'm eating. If it's a handful of M&M's every time I go to the break room, I'm eating a LOT of M&M's! The plan for this is to eat 6 small meals, structured snacks if you will, so I can monitor my intake but still satisfy my snacking urges.
3. Drink more water
I hate water as much as I love Coke. I hate the taste, the smell, and how it makes me feel after I drink it. BUT, I know that it is great for me and I know a lot of times when I eat it's really because I am dehydrated and need some H2O. I'll be bringing my 32 oz. Water bottle to work with me and drinking one bottle before lunch time, and one after lunch. This will get me my 8 cups a day and will also help satisfy my need to munch on snacks.
